Is it a confined space?

The 1997 Regulations apply only when both parts of the test are met: the place is substantially enclosed and a specified risk is reasonably foreseeable because of that enclosure.

(a) Is the place substantially enclosed? (tank, vat, silo, pit, trench, pipe, sewer, flue, well or similar)
(b) Which specified risks are reasonably foreseeable? (tick all that apply — at least one means a specified risk exists)
